In a world of Darkness become the Nightmare.
To Kill A Shadow by Katherine Quinn
YA Romantasy, horror?
No spice
Rating: 4.5 out of 5
Overall, I would give this book a 4.3 out of five stars. I would say it quite hit a 4.5, but it was close. Meaning that I did enjoy the book, and I will 100% be getting the next book. Though, I would have to either way, as the ending for this book is left very, very open, making it obviously incomplete without book two.
Small spoilers ahead.
I enjoyed this book almost solely because I enjoyed Jude's and Kiara's relationship ship, which is probably why the ending was one of the few things I could say I didn't enjoy about it. Obviously, it left the whole love thing open, ending with Jude leaving to find a way to save her. Deep down, I had hoped they were both gods since it was obvious, at the very least, that one of them was. But book one ends on the knowledge that gods can be created, so here is to hopping. As an author myself who has a passion for creating gods, this is pretty much up my alley. XD
The only downfall to this story is that it sometimes feels overly slow towards the end. I would say after the final knight's death is about where it seems a bit draggy. (Jude's friend, his name is slipping my mind right now.) The details seem to feel sluggish and overwhelming, if not a bit repetitive. But if that is the only fault I found with this read, I would say it's not that bad.
Overall, I would recommend the book to anyone who likes a nice, angsty, at first Fatnasy romance with a scarred hot ML and a Female lead who is a badass more so than the male. Kiara kicks ass the whole book.
